Larry will be presenting a 1 day LE/MIL pistol course at GPS Sniper School on December 6th, 2011

Course Information

Larry Vickers is a decorated US Army Special Forces veteran and national pistol champion. Mr. Vickers has nearly two decades of special operations experience (1 SFOD-Delta), much of which was spent as his unit’s Primary Firearms Instructor. In addition to his special operations accomplishments, his competitive shooting has yielded a 10th and 9th place finish in the 1993 and 1994 USPSA Limited Nationals as well as a 1st place finish in CDP class at the 2001 IDPA Mid-Winter Nationals at Smith & Wesson. Mr. Vickers is a founding member of IDPA. In addition to being a highly experienced operator and national pistol champion, Mr. Vickers is also one of the premier 1911 pistolsmiths in the country and his work has been featured in several firearms publications and on the cover of American Handgunner. In addition to all this, Mr. Vickers has served as a consultant and technical expert to the firearms industry. Mr. Vickers is featured on two new firearms, tactics, and accessories focused T.V. shows called Tactical Impact and Tactical Arms.

This course is designed for LEO/MIL and topics covered include:

  • Stance, grip, sight alignment and trigger control 
  • Reloads, draw, introduction to different skill drills
  • Dry fire and bullseye shooting
  • Malfunction drills, shooting on the move
  • Strong hand and weak hand shooting
  • Introduction to timed fire drills
  • Evaluations based on class skill level
  • Night fire

The course will be held at GPS Sniper School which is located just west of Ben Avery shooting range on Carefree Highway and I-17.

Course Requirements

Handgun

  • Serviceable handgun of at least 9mm Para caliber
  • Serviceable holster
  • Minimum one double magazine pouch / Ability to carry minimum of two magazines
  • Minimum of three serviceable magazines (5 is better)

Misc

  • Eye and Ear Protection (electronic hearing protection is preferred)
  • Serviceable handgun of at least 9mm Para caliber
  • Serviceable holsterMinimum 1 double magazine pouch
  • Minimum of 3 serviceable magazines (5 is better)
  • 400 rounds of handgun ammo - factory service type (no reloads)
  • Suitable range wear depending on the season
  • Good attitude

Prerequisites

All shooters must have a completed a professional defensive /  tactical handgun class and have above average skills. You must be able to safely work from a holster and shoot from  the draw. CCW certification will NOT qualify you for this course. Your application will be reviewed prior to acceptance into the course. 

Course Cost

Cost is $250.00. A non-refundable $100 deposit is due at the time of registration and complete payment is due no later than 30 days prior to the course. You may also make a complete payment at the time of registration.

Force Options Course Enrolment & Payment Policy

Full payment or deposit (when applicable) is required to hold your seat in a class. It must be received within thirty days of your placement on the class roster.

Full payment must be received at least thirty days from the class start date. If payment does not arrive within this time frame you will be dropped from the class and your deposit is forfeited.

Unexpected family emergencies (Deaths, illness, births, etc.) are the only reasons to drop out from a class without penalty. Within thirty days of the class start date there is no refund except as mentioned. Other cancellations are credited towards a future Force Options class and will be handled on a case by case basis.

Special Consideration will be taken for deploying military & law enforcement.

Force Options presents courses designed for defensive and tactical training. In order to allow you to get the most realistic training possible, our standing policy is NO COMPETITION WEAPONS OR GEAR. Pistol triggers MUST be at least 3.5 lbs with a recommended 5 lbs. Triggers will be tested prior to class.

All participants must provide a COMPLETE training application. These applications are good for a period of one year.

In Accordance with ITAR Regulations, only U.S. Citizens will be accepted to participate in Force Options Tactical Courses.
