The course has been certified by The State of Nevada POST for NV Officers and The State Of Missouri POST For MO Officers.

This program is designed to meet the growing need for skilled defensive tactics instructors in both the law enforcement and military arenas. Upon completion of the course you will be awarded the title of Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor and be listed as such with the International Martial Arts Council of America - Law Enforcement Division. This will be a basic certification. Upon completion of this program you will be able to advance your certification to Advanced Defensive Tactics Instructor and then Master Defensive Tactics Instructor. Details on this can be found below in the re-certification and advanced training section. This certification course will be conducted at the National Training Camp to be held Thursday the 31st of July thru Saturday the 2nd of August in Nashville, Tennessee. This certification will consist of 10 hours of specialized classes. You will be required to complete all 10 hours in order to become certified. We do offer an associate instructor program for people attending at least hours of training.

Our annual DT Instructor Course is hosted each year by the International Martial Arts Council of America. This partnership provides us large training spaces while keeping the cost to participants reasonable.

Why Certify?

There is a very real and growing need for skilled defensive tactics instructors in the law enforcement community. Most officers only see seven hours of training in the academy and then only six hours a year after that. Agencies are scrambling to provide their officers with effective, credible sources for DT training. As martial artists we have a natural advantage over others entering this field. You must, however understand the unique nature of the business and be able to adapt tradition to application. This certification course is much more than simply techniques. We will discuss and teach you the proper mindset and presentation to enter into law enforcement defensive tactics instruction.

Expiration of Certification

This initial certification is good for two years from date of issue. Recertification will be required in order to maintain your credentials. Requirements for recertification is the completion of five hours of defensive tactics classes through the IMAC Defensive Tactics Division.

Advanced Certifications

After completion of the initial certification, you may be eligible for promotion to Advanced Defensive Tactics Instructor and then to Master Defensive Tactics Instructor.

Advanced Defensive Tactics Instructor

  • Five additional hours of advanced instruction with IMAC Defensive Tactics Division
